Centella asiatica has a long history in the promotion of wound healing in treatments of skin diseases, especially in India and Indonesia. According to a legend, injured Bengali tigers instinctively search for centella plants. They rub their wounds against the plant and even eat the plant to improve the healing process. It is due to this legend that Centella asiatica is also called tiger grass. 3000 years ago, this tropical plant found a place in the ayurvedic and traditional medicine of Asia and Africa. In recent years, European studies have demonstrated the ability of Centella asiatica to heal and regenerate skin. Today it is an important active ingredient in high-quality anti-aging cosmetics, such as body-firming abd skin-strengthening products, especially for the reduction of visible wrinkles, cellulite and stretch marks.
